Vodafone joins Ubuntu Carrier Advisory Group

Worlds largest telecom operator Vodafone has joined Ubuntu's carrier Advisory Group (CAG) giving a great boost to the Ubuntu's entry in to the smart phone segment.

The Ubuntu Carrier Advisory Group (CAG) lets mobile operators shape Ubuntu’s mobile strategy. As a member, Vodafone would receive advance confidential briefings and provide Ubuntu with industry insight to ensure that Ubuntu meets their needs. The other telecom operators in the group include T-mobile, Verizon, China Unicom, etc,.

Lenovo launches chrome book

Lenovo, the company that surprised every one by buying mobile handset maker Motorola has launched two chrome books priced at $429 mainly targeted for student community. These thinkpad series device comes with a battery life of upto 6.5 hours and 3 USB ports. Under the hood is a Intel Celeron processor. The other companies that offer chrome books are: HP, Samsung, Acer and Dell.
