Liferea

Liferea (Linux Feed Reader) is a simple yet powerful offline capable desktop aggregator caches feeds and is suitable for use with portable devices (laptops, hand helds...) that do not have a permanent internet connection. There are many other news readers available, but these others are not available for Linux or require many extra libraries to be installed. Liferea tries to fill this gap by creating a fast, easy to use, easy to install news aggregator for Gtk/Gnome.

Lifera has the following advantages over other online news aggregators:
  • Your cached feed contents are saved on your own (secure) machine.
  • Your cached feed contents are searchable locally with other tools (e.g. Beagle)
  • Your feed list is not accessible to 3rd parties
  • Each feed access are done in private.
